Waytk (Hello)

Skwlāx (aka Little Shuswap Lake Band) invites you to join us for salmon celebrations at the Adams River, September 30 to October 23! Come enjoy these days of feasting and celebration and help us share with the World what salmon mean to the Secwepemc.

We have a special Salmon Celebration planned for Sept 30 and we invite you to bring your families and join us for the day. We will begin with a Grand Entrance from the park gates to the water (10 am), led by women and children. There will be children’s activities, a Community Feast, and a Lahal Tournament throughout the day.

We also invite you to come enjoy the salmon run and the various Indigenous-led activities planned throughout the entire three-week Salute to the Sockeye Festival (October 1-23). (See the information sheet and poster attached for more details).

Skwlāx needs assistance from all the Secwepemc Communities to help us share Secwepemc Culture during the festival. We have honorariums for up to nine (9) Secwepemc Artisans and Knowledge Keepers every day, ($150 for min 4 hours).

  • 3 Artisans; 2 Fishing Knowledge Keepers; 1 Roving Knowledge Keeper to walk the trails and talk to people; 1 person to tend to the Children’s Area; 1 Medicine and Elders Resting Area helper; 1 Ceremony and Protocol Helper.

Contact Carmen Massey, LSLB Salute Coordinator (cmassey@lslb.ca/250-804-3466) with any questions or concerns.

Camping wil be available at the LSLB Powwow Arbour. Contact Quaaout Lodge to book at 250-679-3090.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
